In November – December 2015, Chennai experienced the heaviest rainfall in the past 100 years and severe flooding as a consequence. More than 400 people were killed and over 18 lakh people were displaced. Subways, hospitals, roads were flooded and entire localities were underwater for the better part of a week.
Santosh Muruganantha, the owner of the Chennai’s Kolapasi takeaway restaurant, started cooking for flood victims and ended up delivering 170,000 food boxes to stranded families in the city.
And, this video showing his inspiring story of what problems he faced and how up to 300 volunteers joined his efforts in cooking and packing food packets.
We salute his incredible work and his courage!
